Minutes away from some of the hottest spots in Hong Kong – Prince Edward, Nam Cheong, Mong Kok, and Olympic – Tai Kok Tsui is a small-yet-lively neighbourhood where they’ve managed to squeeze in a vast array of great eats, eccentric cafés, a bustling shopping district, historical tenement buildings (tong lau 唐樓 in Cantonese), and activities that’ll make you break a sweat! Here’s what we recommend you do at Tai Kok Tsui:
Walk through the local Fa Yuen (花園街) Street Market
Fa Yuen Street, also known as Fa Yuen Gai in Cantonese, is a market that has stalls of vibrant shops that sells mostly everything from clothes, bags, sneakers, watches, suitcases, blankets, bedding, furniture, mobile accessories, and food. It is close to Goldfish Market (where you buy goldfishes and exotic fish), Tung Choi Street, the bird market, and the flower market. Spend a day around here shopping for things that you might need and for a great price! But be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, as it’ll take almost a day to walk through all these stalls. Also, be ready to bargain! Vendors are willing to negotiate and bargain prices with you, so you’ll receive your item at the best price possible.
Break a sweat at Tai Kok Tsui’s Municipal’s Building
Tired of sitting at the same spot for too long? Even though we have a fully functioning gym at our buildings, you might be looking for different exercises to do. If you’re a Hong Kong Resident, Visit Tai Kok Tsui’s Municipal’s Building or the Sports Center to use their wide array of facilities! From a 10-lane rock wall, 2 basketball and volleyball courts, or 8 badminton courts, the number of things you can do here is almost unlimited! There are multipurpose rooms that you could use to practice or learn a dance, or to do gymnastics. If you’re a swimmer, there is a 50-meter pool that you’re able to use.
Admire the view at Hoi Fai Road Promenade (海輝路海濱公園)
One of the greatest things about Hong Kong is the view of Victoria Harbor, and luckily the promenade is a 10-minute walk from Weave Studios – Olympic! Visit the promenade if you’re looking to enjoy a beautiful view whether if you’re jogging, running, or taking a walk. We recommend you visit during sunrise or sunset, as you’ll be able to capture the picturesque coastline that welcomes the sea and sky as it warms up the blue to a radiant gold, or to a subtle hint of purple to announce the coming sunset.
Shop Til’ You Drop at Olympian City
The shopping landmark of West Kowloon, Olympian City, consists of a variety of three hundred shops. Sink your teeth into savory and sweet flavors from Cinnabon, find comfort and consolation at Francfranc (one of our brand partners 😉), and enjoy a relaxing and delicious cup of Coffee at Black Sugar Coffee. Roam the mall and discover shops that you didn’t think you could think of. Have I mentioned that it’s only a ten-minute walk from Weave Studios – Olympic? This is a special type of convenience that we love to share with our residents!
